* Where is RAW from?
In recent years, RAW food has been making its way across North America, often lead by Hollywood celebs such as
Uma Thurman and ..................... , along with a wave of everyday people who have been turning off their AGAs,
hanging up their pans and getting themselves equipped for the RAW experience, with new blenders, dehydrators,
juicers and smothie-makers.
Cities all across the USA & Canada have been at it for a while, but now London too has joined the rage, with a
number of new RAW food restaurants appearing, as demand by the health, weight and cleansed conscious among
us seek for places to go out and find what they enjoy and feel great with, whilst experiencing a whole new range of
exciting recipes in the both highly fashionable and highly purist world of RAW...

* So, What is a Raw Food Diet, and what does that mean to you?
Rawism, a term used by some for the 'raw food diet', is about fundamentally eating raw food. It is believed by many
researchers of diet and health, that when food is cooked above the golden number of: 116 degrees Fahrenheit
(46 degrees Celsius) that valuable nutrients and enzymes are destroyed. Also there is some research that implies
that over-cooked food (burnt to a crisp) can have its molecular structure altered considerably, i.e. 'free radicals' are
produced, which is suggested by some to be harmful to the body. (look out for our new ebook - 'how to remove free
radicals from the body')
Some researchers suggest that our bodies can produce plenty of enzymes that breakdown food, and therefore we
do not require the food to do it for us, however there is contrary opinion to this, where some research suggests that
firstly this production of extra enzymes, required to breakdown food, places extra strain onto our body's organs, and
this is also joined by more research which suggests that our bodies have a finite amount of enzymes it can release,
and the more released the faster you will seem to age.
I don't know what to believe as there are always mixtures of opinions amongst researchers, however I do know how
I feel during and after eating, and that with a few simple changes in my life, I can enjoy exciting tasty lovable food
whilst taking into account some of these researcher's opinions... you could say I'm standing on the fence a bit here,
but I say, why be an extremist, anything in moderation!

raw vege wraps, yummy...
* My Experience:
To be considered a raw foodist and to enjoy the benefits of this principle, it is suggested that you eat a minimum of
60% RAW, and there are also plenty of 100% RAW eaters out there too.
I myself have been eating RAW for 17 months now, and I have to say that for me 100% was difficult, i found that if I
engaged in heavy labour, such as moving mounds of soil in our garden, I would swiftly become fatigued, on the
contrary, if I eat wholly cooked food, I become heavy and lethargic before I work, even with organic, wheat free,
sugar free meals. 'So' i thought, 'How can I make this work for me?' - I can feel the need for balance here... This is
what I have been developing for the last 17 months, an experiment based on research, books and doctors opinions,
yet mostly trial and error.
* Can RAW help you?
I have met a number of rawfoodies, and a number who keep trying, and what I notice is these tryers go for 100%, and
they might last a month at most, then they have have a massive rebound and usually eat masses of all the worst foods
which they miss the most! the breads, cakes, fats, sugars and other stimulants.
If you are looking to:
* eat a healthier diet
* change your weight
* feel clearer and freer in your body
* relax and rest more easily
* maintain higher energy levels
Then a RAW food diet could be for you? my personal advice is not to rush, but to enter this type of diet with a simple structured method which is easy to follow and practical, enabling you to cheat a little with some of your favourite foods, and I personally feel that its important for you to be able to still eat a proportion of your diet as cooked food! I know that this will upset a few 100% Raw foodies, but I strongly believe that if you need support, then it should be done to the amount that you personally find sustainable, and suitable for your lifestyle and personaly needs, and that any amount of raw is an improvement on a constantly cooked diet!
* How does RAW taste?
For food to be satisfying, it is essential to have a balance of salt, sweet and fat within what we eat, the best recipes make the best use of this combination, and you will be surprised and satisfied with great RAW recipes!
There are some delicious RAW food recipes to experience and experiment with and you will be able to test your own
combinations to suit your taste, or simply follow instructions for some fantastic RAW food dishes that people won't even
realise are in-fact RAW, they will think it's cooked! such as a fantastic butternut cheesecake, chocolate and nut florentines,
sweet potato noodles, and flax crackers or onion bread.
Present your guests with some of these delicious dishes, and you will have friends hassling you for your recipes. Be the
first to share some of these great meals with friends and family who are also interested in their health, feelings and looks...
Our website aims to discuss the good the bad and the alternative fats & sugars, and explore what positive alternatives exist, where you can find them and how maybe you could use them differently to get similar results that you would usually get.
It is said that it takes 14 days to change a habit, and only three to change it back again, well I feel that it takes another 14 to
change it back again, which is why you CAN afford to fall off the wagon occasionally! I feel that it is important for you to take things at your own pace, if you can have a helping hand then even better, anything to help you find the right balance for your body and mind, that helps you become healthier and more comfortable with your body.
